On September 16, 2019, a significant rift emerged between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto, with Miguna Miguna, a vocal supporter of Ruto, advising him to take drastic action.

According to Miguna, Ruto should not wait for the fallout between him and the President to escalate further, but instead, take immediate action to distance himself from the Jubilee Party and the ODM party.

Miguna's advice was prompted by the current tensions between Ruto and the President, which he likened to the events of the 1966 KANU Limuru Conference, where Jomo Kenyatta and Tom Mboya allegedly wronged Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila's father.

Specifically, Miguna urged Ruto to join the National Resistance Movement (NRM), but with a condition: he must first apologize for his past wrongdoings before being accepted into the party.

Failure to do so, Miguna warned, would result in the NRM party crushing Ruto, along with other 'tyrants and dynastic mythical bridge builders.'

The rift between the President and DP Ruto has caused significant divisions among their supporters, with some leaders accusing others of planning Ruto's downfall.
