On September 15, 2019, Ndindi Nyoro, the Member of Parliament for Kiharu, apologized to the Catholic Church and its members for the chaos that erupted during a church service at Gitui.

The incident began when Nyoro attempted to lead a fundraising event at the ACK St Mark church in Igwe, Nyoro, but was opposed by Maina Kamanda and his supporters, who claimed that Nyoro was not invited to the event.

"I take this opportunity to apologize to the Catholic Church for what happened. I regret what occurred and I wish that we, as leaders, could respect the house of God," Nyoro said in a statement.

Despite the apology, the tension between Nyoro and Kamanda remains, with both sides trading accusations and blame.
