On September 15, 2019, Geoffrey Kamworor made history at the Copenhagen Half Marathon, shattering the world record by 17 seconds.
With a time of 58 minutes and one second, Kamworor surpassed the previous best of 58:18 set by Abraham Kiptum in Valencia last year.
Patrick Sang, Kamworor's lead coach at the NN Running Team, expressed his pride and admiration for the 26-year-old athlete's achievement.
"The weather conditions were not ideal at the start of the race (windy with potential for precipitation) and it’s really fulfilling that he did it," Sang said.
As the lead coach at the NN Running Team, Sang has been instrumental in guiding Kamworor to success, and he is also the coach of world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.
