Published on September 15, 2019, Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has urged Members of the County Assembly to reject the Punguza Mizigo Bill proposed by Third Way Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot.
Speaking at a burial in Rangwe, Kaluma and his Kabondo Kasipul counterpart Dr. Eve Obara argued that the Bill would lead to a reduction in the number of representation and constituencies in the country.
According to Kaluma, Homa Bay County, which currently has eight constituencies, may be reduced to only two if the Bill is approved in a referendum.
The two legislators urged Kenyans to wait for directions from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
Kaluma also dismissed leaders opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying they should stop criticizing the initiative as they declined to give their views during the time the team was collecting public views.
