Out of nearly 500 responses, seven stood out for their ingenuity and humor.
1. The 'sister-wife' excuse ¶
One respondent, @missyinye, shared a story about a man who claimed his sister was his wife, despite the sister being a divorcee with a child.
2. Blaming the victim ¶
Another respondent, @modadeolaoluwa, alleged that a cheating partner blamed them for the infidelity, saying, 'It's your fault I'm seeing her, if you hadn't gone through my phone I wouldn't keep seeing her but because you want to control me, I'll show you I can't be controlled.'
3. The 'network' excuse ¶
Respondent @joicharles claimed that a cheating partner blamed the network for a coughing sound at night, saying, 'The lady sleeping beside him coughed at night while I was talking to him and he said it was network that made the sound.'
4. 'Retirement' benefits ¶
Respondent @melanieempress shared a story about a man who sent his ex-girlfriend a message asking her to pick a gift, claiming he was doing it out of pity.
5. A compatibility test ¶
Respondent @Michael_cxt alleged that a cheating partner claimed she was running a compatibility test with another guy, saying, 'She said she's was trying to see if she and the guy were compatible.'
6. A sweetness test ¶
Respondent @ahuoiza_slipons claimed that a cheating partner said, 'You are too sweet. I wanted to see if others are this sweet.'
7. Keeping women for a friend ¶
Respondent @niceyntuks shared a story about a man who kept women for his friend, saying, 'Dude came to see me, lodged with another woman overnight. When I came in the morning and saw the woman's bag in the hotel wardrobe, my brothers and sisters, hear story, 'baby, my old time friend that I saw yesterday, had a clash of two women, so he begged me to help him hide one'.
