Chelsea's new manager, Frank Lampard, has been given a vote of confidence by former boss Jose Mourinho, who believes the 41-year-old has the potential to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on the matter, Mourinho stated, "He plays Champions League, he played a European Super Cup, he had already big matches in his hands, and he has to grow up with the level of experiences, which I believe he can because he has huge experience."
Mourinho also pointed out that Lampard's background in football, being the son of a player and the nephew of a manager, has given him a unique understanding of the game.
"I cannot separate from the fact that football has been always in his life. He was born son of a player, he grew up the nephew of a football manager (Harry Redknapp), he became a player, he became a top player. I think he has all the conditions to succeed," Mourinho added.
Despite a shaky start to his tenure, Lampard has managed to turn around the team's fortunes, with Chelsea currently sitting sixth on the Premier League table.
