On September 14, 2019, police in Machakos arrested a woman in her late 20s for allegedly neglecting her three young children.
The children, aged 6, 4, and 1, were found by their neighbour in a single-room house in Eastleigh Estate, Machakos Town.
According to neighbours, the mother of three had a habit of locking up her children and leaving them without food for up to five days at a time.
Residents, who had had enough of the woman's callous treatment of her children, reported her to the police, leading to her arrest.
The three children were taken to the department of Children's Services (DCS) in Machakos for care and support.
The suspect is being held at Machakos Police Station.
