On September 14, 2019, Sarah Wairimu, the suspect in the murder of her husband Tob Cohen, made a sensational claim that the body could have been planted in her compound to frame her.

Speaking through her lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu expressed her sadness over the confirmation of Cohen's death and pleaded with the media to give her a chance, stating that they should either wait for the trial or print information that they can support.

According to Murgor, the conduct of the investigators since Tuesday had been curious, suggesting that they had something up their sleeves. He claimed that the investigators had thoroughly examined the premises, including the garden, but had called off the search on Tuesday, only to resume it the next day.

On Wednesday, the investigators did about 99% of the search, leaving only one percent of the places unsearched, including the corner where the body was eventually found. The following day, the DCI detectives took Wairimu to Milimani High Court over the murder.

However, the defence team took issue with DCI head George Kinoti, accusing him of announcing that Tob Cohen's body had been found before it had even been retrieved from the septic tank. Murgor argued that the police should have waited for the body to be identified before making such an announcement.
