Published on September 14, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in Kisumu, where a two-year-old child stumbled upon the lifeless body of her mother, doused in acid.
The gruesome discovery was made at a home in Sinyolo village, North Kapuonja, where neighbors expressed shock upon seeing the child emerge with blood-stained clothes.
According to West Kisumu Area Chief Mary Adhiambo, the neighbors rushed into the house and found the decomposing body of the mother, covered with a blanket.
Police suspect that the woman was strangled and burnt with acid on Thursday night, and are now searching for a man who was last seen leaving the house with a black bag on Friday morning.
The deceased, a teacher from Ulalo Primary School, had lived in the area for slightly over 8 months, having been posted to the school in January.
The body is currently at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, awaiting postmortem.
West Kisumu Ward area MCA Paul Okiri condemned the incident, urging police to take swift action and apprehend the suspect.
