On September 14, 2019, Paris Saint-Germain's star player Neymar faced a hostile reception from the club's fans during their Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes.
The world's most expensive player was booed by supporters when the teams were read out, and his first touches of the ball were met with whistles.
Neymar was also subjected to loud chants in Spanish aimed at his mother, and a banner briefly unfurled in Portuguese, targeting his father and agent, read: "Neymar Senior, sell your son in the Vila Mimosa".
Located in Rio de Janeiro, Vila Mimosa is a district known for prostitution.
Neymar had not played for PSG in four months, having spent the close season trying to secure a return to his former club Barcelona.
However, the transfer window closed on September 2, bringing the saga to an end.
Since then, Neymar has been away on international duty for Brazil, scoring a goal and making another in a 2-2 draw with Colombia and coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Peru.
