As of September 14, 2019, the price of petrol in Nairobi has increased to Ksh.112.8 per litre, marking a significant rise in the fuel price.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has raised the price of petrol by 28 cents and diesel by Ksh.2.44 per litre.

The price adjustments, which took effect from midnight on Sunday, will run through the rest of September to Monday, October 14, 2019.

However, EPRA has cut its ceiling price for kerosene by Ksh.3.31 per litre, bringing it down to Ksh.100.64 per litre.

The changes in fuel prices are attributed to a decrease in the cost of Murban crude oil and a slight dip in the Kenyan shilling exchange rate against the US dollar.

According to EPRA, the free on board price of Murban crude oil lifted in July 2019 was posted at Ksh.6416.90 ($62.30), a decrease of 5.82 percent per barrel.
