On September 14, 2019, Kenya secured a spot in the Davis Cup Euro/Africa Group II tennis championship for the next year.

The country's tennis team earned promotion after Ibrahim Kibet and Ismael Changawa won their singles matches against Mozambique, securing a spot in the Davis Cup Africa Group III championship final at Nairobi Club.

Kenya only needed to win the semi-final duel to earn promotion to Group II, and Kibet and Changawa delivered, dismissing their opponents in straight sets.

Changawa easily brushed aside Franco Mata in 6-1, 6-1, while Kibet braved a two-set thriller to edge out Bruno Nhavene 7-6(6), 6-4.

Tunisia also beat Madagascar 2-1 in their singles matches, avoiding a doubles match and securing a spot in the Davis Cup Euro/Africa Group II next year.
