Men are increasingly turning to their toilets as a sanctuary from the chaos of family life, with many hiding in the loo for extended periods.

According to a 2018 study commissioned by Pebble Grey, a bathroom expert, men spend an average of seven hours in the bathroom each year.

The study, which surveyed 1000 male participants, found that men are retreating to the loo to escape nagging partners, household chores, and noisy kids.

One in 10 bathroom visits is interrupted, with 171 interruptions occurring throughout the year.

Among the men surveyed, 45% said they rarely get any 'me time', with a quarter of these men stating that their spouse is not understanding of their hectic lives.
