Published on September 14, 2019, a Nairobi lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi, highlighted inconsistencies in the judiciary after a court ruling allowed a Rastafarian student to keep their dreadlocks in school.

Abdullahi pointed out that while the High Court allowed Rastafarians to keep their dreadlocks, the Supreme Court prohibited Muslim girls from wearing their religious headgear in school.

He referred to a January 2019 Supreme Court judgment that ruled in favour of the Methodist Church of Kenya, which sponsors St. Paul's Kiwanjani Secondary School in Isiolo, stating that every school has the right to determine its rules.

Abdullahi expressed his sentiments on Twitter, saying, 'The High Court allows Rastafarians to keep their dreadlocks in school. The Supreme Court PROHIBITS Muslim children to wear HIJAB…Kenya is a very unique Animal farm.'

His tweet sparked a range of reactions from Kenyans on Twitter, with some defending his stance and others criticizing it.
