Published on September 14, 2019, a heart-wrenching incident in Nyandarua County has left many Kenyans questioning the effectiveness of their leaders.

A family from the region was forced to rely on donkeys to transport the body of their loved one, Alice Njoki Njoroge, for burial after the hearse got stuck in the mud.

The incident highlights the poor state of roads in Nyandarua County, which has hindered motor vehicle transport and left residents frustrated.

Residents took to Twitter to express their anger and disappointment, questioning the county's leadership on their failure to address the issue.

As one Twitter user, Sammy Mohammed, noted, 'A family in Nyandarua forced to seek donkey services to transport kin’s body home for burial. This was after the hearse that carried the body got stuck in the mud.'

Another user, Matu Kamau, shared his own experience, saying, 'I live in nyandarua n its clear poor roads is a great problem for us farm products r going to waste.'

The incident has also sparked debate on the role of county leaders in addressing the issue of poor infrastructure.

As Eng Mathenge pointed out, 'This is the “triumphant” entry on a donkey that Alice njoroge got for her burial at shamata ward in Nyandarua County. Vehicles were unable to use the roads that are in total mess f, the body had to be carried on a donkey.'

County Governor Francis Kimemia has been put on the spot over his handling of the issue, with some questioning his leadership.
