Athletics Kenya has named a 47-member squad for the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, from September 27 to October 6.
The team will be looking to build on Kenya's impressive performance at the 2017 World Championships in London, where the country won 11 medals, including five gold, two silver, and four bronze.
Kenya's athletics team has a rich history of success, having topped the medal standings for the first time at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing with seven gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.
However, the athletics fraternity is concerned about the strength of Team Kenya this time around, with some events, including the men's 10,000m, 5,000m, and 800m, and women's 800m, being perceived as weak.
Kenya has not won the world title in men's 5,000m and 10,000m since 2005 and 2001, respectively.
The team will move to camp tomorrow, and the athletes are expected to put aside their individual programs and focus on national duty.
With the Diamond League season over, the athletes are now expected to concentrate on winning and preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Additionally, the athletes must be vigilant against doping, which is a growing concern in the country.
