On September 13, 2019, a gruesome murder shook the quiet town of Eldoret. Robina Moraa, a 31-year-old police officer attached to Naiberi police station, was found dead at her rented house in Miti Moja estate, outskirts of Eldoret town.
According to police reports, Moraa had been stabbed multiple times, with several wounds on her head and body. The motive behind the murder was later revealed to be a personal one, as Moraa was in an estranged relationship with the prime suspect, Joshua Ogach.
Ogach, a Nairobi-based businessman, had gone to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru to seek medication, but was instead met with a team of detectives who had been tracking him down. "The suspect reported at the facility while in an unconscious state. He was treated and later arrested," said Nakuru Town East Police Commander Elena Kabukuru.
It is alleged that Ogach had attempted to take his own life by consuming poison before seeking treatment at the hospital. However, his plan was foiled when investigators traced him down and arrested him.
"Detectives from Nakuru and their counterparts in Eldoret have arrested a suspect linked to a police officer who was killed in Eldoret," Ms. Kabukuru added.
