On September 13, 2019, the body of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen was discovered, sparking a murder investigation. Former Gatundu North MP Patrick Muiruri revealed details of a troubled marriage between Cohen and his wife Sarah Wairimu.
Speaking to journalists, Muiruri recalled an altercation at the wedding of their adopted daughter last year. According to him, Sarah sidelined Cohen and did not allow him to greet guests who had turned up at their home.
"You do not own this home, you are not wanted here," Muiruri quoted Sarah.
The incident occurred after Cohen decided to take the microphone to greet their guests, but Sarah reportedly grabbed it from him.
Muiruri expressed astonishment, saying Cohen had educated their adopted daughter in The Netherlands and taken good care of the entire family, yet he was being treated like an outsider.
On the night Cohen went missing, Muiruri and Cohen had talked from 9:45pm for about 15 minutes. Cohen was very concerned about his life and had complained to police over the same issue.
Mr. Muiruri further revealed that Cohen's sister Gabrielle had also called him when he went missing, but couldn't reach him.
He also recalled a Press conference where Sarah's lawyer Philip Murgor mentioned him, accusing him of making 'some wild' allegations. The lawyer reportedly indicated that Cohen was safe and would return home.
However, Muiruri insisted that Sarah is behind Cohen's murder and that the law will take its own course.
"If she murdered for property she will not get it. If it is for the business she ran with Cohen, which only meant to promote golf, the business is dead because no golfer will do business with Sarah," he added.
