Published on September 13, 2019, Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti revealed gruesome details of the murder of Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen.
Cohen, 71, was tortured and murdered before his body was dumped in an underground water tank, Kinoti said.
"It is a gruesome murder, they took their time to kill innocent Cohen," Kinoti stated. "He was bound; legs, hands and neck before he was murdered and then they hid him in an underground water tank. They took their time."
Two people are in custody over the murder, including Cohen's wife Sarah Wairimu, who was arrested on August 28 and interrogated at the DCI headquarters.
Wairimu was again arraigned in court to face murder charges but did not take a plea. The court ordered her to undergo a mental assessment.
Kinoti expressed his shock at the brutality of the crime, saying, "These people are heartless, absolutely heartless. If it's money or even domestic strife, can't move anybody to move to that extent."
The DCI said they secured the home immediately Cohen was reported missing, which he described as "instinctive."
"From the onset when this matter was reported to us, I immediately ordered this place be preserved as a scene of crime. We knew reasons why instinctively we had to preserve it as a scene of crime," Kinoti explained.
Cohen's family has positively identified his body, Kinoti added.
