Netflix has been expanding its African content offerings, and the latest additions are two Nigerian movies: 'The Wedding Party 2' and 'Merry Men'.
According to FilmOne, a major Nigerian distributor, these movies were announced to be available on Netflix in August 2019.
On September 1, 2019, Netflix added 'Phone Swap', a 2012 film directed by Kunle Afolayan, to its platform.
As for the two new additions, 'The Wedding Party 2' is a 2017 film directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, and it is currently the highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time, earning N512 million.
The movie follows characters as one of them accidentally proposes marriage by accident, leading to a disastrous traditional engagement ceremony and a wedding in Dubai.
'Merry Men', on the other hand, is a 2018 film set in Abuja, which follows four rich men who seduce powerful women, steal from the rich, get contracts from the political elite, and give to the poor.
It is the fifth highest-grossing Nigerian film, with a total of N230 million.
