On September 13, 2019, Bandari FC was set to host Tunisia's US Ben Guerdane in the first round of their CAF Confederation Cup clash in Nairobi.

The Tunisians arrived in the capital the same day and got a feel of the Kasarani pitch, holding a light training session at 4 pm ahead of the first leg clash at the venue the following day.

Coach Bernard Mwalala expressed his team's desire to seize advantage, having narrowly advanced to the next round on goal difference after drawing 1-1 on aggregate with Sudan's Al Ahly Shandy.

"We don't want to repeat what we did against Shandy and pile a lot of pressure on us ahead of the second leg; any home win will be good for us," Mwalala said.

However, the team would not be able to field their latest new signings, including Mohamed Katana alias Messi, Sosthenes Idah, and keeper Justin Ndikumana, who did not meet the CAF submission deadline.

"The three will join us in the play-off round if we qualify," Mwalala added.

Former Nzoia Sugar coach called on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to rally behind his boys, terming it as an advantage during home games.

Bandari will travel to Tunisia for the second leg, scheduled for September 27, as they seek to write their own history.
