On September 13, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Keroka, Nyamira county, where residents apprehended a rogue police officer accused of peddling illegal drugs to locals.

Evans Ochieng', a police officer, was caught in possession of 8 rolls of bhang and 20 litres of chang'aa, substances he allegedly sold to teenagers and school-going children.

Angry residents arrested Ochieng' and marched him to the authorities, demanding his prosecution. His colleagues were forced to book him in their cells before presenting him in court for a hearing.

During the court appearance, Ochieng' pleaded not guilty, claiming he was framed by angry youths who allegedly stole his money, Ksh. 8,200, and other valuables.

He was later released on a Ksh. 100,000 bond, awaiting his hearing set for November 19. This incident adds to the list of law enforcement officers caught on the wrong side of the law.
