On September 13, 2019, a daring daylight robbery occurred at the Oddha airstrip in Moyale, where an unknown amount of money belonging to Equity bank was stolen.

Police have arrested three suspects, including the aircraft pilot, co-pilot, and a security officer from the Wells Fargo Security Company.

According to Marsabit County Police Commander Ambrose Steve Oloo, an aeroplane from Nairobi landed at the Oddha airstrip at 4:00 pm, carrying three people aboard, including pilot Alex Kirate, co-pilot John Onunga, and security officer Nelson Lang'at.

After landing, the pilot opened the door of the aircraft and alighted to check the remaining fuel, allowing three strangers to emerge, one armed with a pistol. They ordered the three to lie down and took two sacks of cash before speeding away on a motorbike.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and the aircraft has not been released. The three officers have been arrested, and the remaining sack of money has been taken by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further investigations.

The police commander has appealed to the public to come forward with any information about the motorbike's registration number, which will be treated with confidentiality.
