Published on September 13, 2019, the Murang'a County Assembly has announced a vacancy for a new clerk, following the recent appointment of Chris Kinyanjui as secretary general at the National Council of Churches.
Chris Kinyanjui, who had been the assembly's clerk since 2015, will leave his position on October 1 to take up his new role. The assembly is now seeking suitable candidates to apply for the position before September 20.
According to the assembly's majority leader, Erick Kamande, the position will be filled by the best candidate, and the assembly will not compromise on qualifications. Kamande emphasized that the advertisement is open to all eligible applicants, and they should submit their applications on time.
Kimorori Wempa MCA Amos Murigi noted that the law demands the immediate replacement of the clerk, and the assembly cannot afford to have the position vacant, especially with no deputy clerk in place.
The assembly's business must continue, and the new clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the assembly's operations run smoothly.
