On September 13, 2019, a 31-year-old man lost his life in a tragic incident in Kiebogi village, Meru county.

According to reports, the man had been warned by his parents on several occasions for his unruly behavior, including going home drunk, causing commotion, and insulting them.

On the fateful night, the man arrived home high and belted dirty songs aimed at insulting his parents, prompting the village elders to intervene.

However, the man's parents allegedly hired a gang to discipline him, which led to a thorough beating that ultimately resulted in his death.

The man's mother, Jane Patrick, denied any involvement in the beating, stating that her son had arrived home injured and asked for drinking water before being found dead the next morning.

Angry residents gathered at the home, threatening to flog the parents for failing to report the death for over an hour.

Chief Edward Gitonga was informed of the incident and called the police, who recovered blood-soaked clubs and thick sticks from the parents' farm.

Gitonga cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands and urged them to use the right channels to handle cases.
