On August 26, 2019, a woman named Ann Ledekur allegedly assaulted her neighbor, Caroline Mwangi Wamboi, at Kampi Turkana village in Yatoi sub location of Marigat Sub County.

According to the prosecution, Ledekur attacked Wamboi with a 20-liter jerican, causing her actual bodily harm.

Wamboi testified that she was returning from fetching water when Ledekur pounced on her, sending her sprawling on the ground.

She further alleged that Ledekur continued beating her until neighbors intervened, and after being separated, Ledekur threw stones at her as she sought refuge in her house, hitting her on the right leg and forehead.

Wamboi denied all allegations leveled against her by Ledekur, stating that she has never seen or known the husband of the accused.

However, Ledekur testified that she was suffering with her children while Wamboi was cohabiting with her husband and living a luxurious life.

She told the court, 'Your honour, I am suffering with my children yet the complainant who is cohabiting with the father of my children is living a posh life.'

Witness Alphonce Longor Epur testified that he was in his house when he heard a woman screaming and saw Ledekur attacking Wamboi at around 10:00 am.

Epur further testified that police arrived at the scene, took statements from the accused, the complainant, and her Grade 3 boy, and remanded the accused at Marigat police station.

The case was adjourned until September 25, 2019, when the hearing will resume.
