On September 7, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred in Kibera's Katwekera area, where Martin Imbukule, a 30-year-old man, allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Trizah Wanjiku.
According to reports, Imbukule and Wanjiku had been in a relationship for two years before separating in July 2019. However, Imbukule was not ready to let go, and he became enraged when he spotted Wanjiku with her new partner.
Imbukule was arrested and charged before Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani. He denied the charges and was released on a Sh30,000 cash bail or Sh20,000 with a surety of the same amount and a credible contact person.
Wanjiku, who was left injured and traumatized, recounted the ordeal to the police, stating, 'He abused me that I was a prostitute and a woman who always sleeps around with desperate men.'
The case will be mentioned on September 26, 2019.
