On September 13, 2019, Kenya Craftskills Energy Limited was awarded a grant by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to develop a 50 megawatt wind power plant with an integrated battery storage capacity in Kajiado county.

The project, which aims to increase capacity and support private sector involvement in Africa's energy sector, is in line with the Power Africa and Electrify Africa Act.

Actics, a US investor firm, will work with Craftskills, while Delphos International, another US firm, will execute the study.

USTDA Director Thomas R Hardy praised Craftskills' quality partners, stating that the US companies will be very competitive in the supply of the Kajiado project's major components.
