Published on September 13, 2019, Anne Waiguru's appointment as the Devolution Minister in 2013 marked a significant turning point in her career, catapulting her to the center of Kenya's political engine and state power.

As one of the few Cabinet Secretaries with President Uhuru Kenyatta's ear, Waiguru's presence at the helm of the devolution ministry gave her the exposure and connections she needed to create networks and amass allies within the system.

Her ability to exploit her position has allowed her to build a formidable support base, which she is now leveraging to her advantage. This has not gone unnoticed by Deputy President William Ruto, who is reportedly growing increasingly concerned about Waiguru's rising star.

Waiguru's security detail has been swift and prompt in responding to threats, including a recent incident where her Tanga Tanga rivals attempted to buy goons and heckle her during a market opening ceremony in Kirinyaga.

As a prominent figure in the Embrace Movement, Waiguru's gender and role have given her a unique platform to gain clout in national politics, much to the dismay of DP Ruto, who is struggling to maintain control over the Mt. Kenya region.
