Kenya's Nyayo Stadium, a 30,000-seater venue, is set to host its first Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match on Sunday, September 15, two years since being closed for renovation.

According to reports, the stadium was initially scheduled to be repaired in time to host the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), but Kenya was stripped of hosting rights due to political turmoil and inadequate facilities.

On Thursday, September 12, the stadium hosted its first sporting event, the National trials for the 2019 IAAF World Championships, marking a significant milestone in its reopening.

The stadium will now host the highly anticipated AFC Leopards vs Kariobangi Sharks match on Sunday, September 15.
