Published on September 12, 2019, the Kenyan Premier League match between AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks has been moved to the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.

The decision comes after the government announced that Nyayo Stadium, where the match was initially scheduled to take place, would be temporarily opened for the National trials for the 2019 IAAF World Championships.

Earlier this week, AFC Leopards had announced that the match would be staged at the Nyayo Stadium, but the government's decision to temporarily open the stadium has forced the match to be moved to Kasarani.

The Nyayo Stadium has been closed for over two years to allow for government-commissioned renovations, which were initially intended to be completed in time for the 2018 Africa Nations Championship.

However, the renovations have been delayed due to a lack of funds, and the stadium remains incomplete.

When contacted for comment, Sports Kenya Director Pius Metto declined to comment on the matter, saying 'I cannot comment on that matter for now.'
