September 12, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Lugusi Boys High School, a relatively unknown institution in the Kenyan football scene. The school's impressive performance in the Kakamega County School Games semi-finals has caught the attention of several Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clubs.
Two talented youngsters, Lawrence Otieno 'Olunga' and Abubakar Tsavo Musha, have already been signed by Kakamega Homeboyz, a KPL side. The duo's exceptional skills on the field have not gone unnoticed, with three other KPL clubs, Wazito FC, Kariobangi Sharks, and Nzoia Sugar, keeping a close eye on Collins Barasa, a promising midfielder in Form Four.
Coach Enock Luchebereri, who has been instrumental in nurturing the talents of his players, expressed his ambition to not only excel in school games but to take his boys abroad. He believes they have the potential to become top players in the world of football.
"I have a target to not only play in school games but to take my boys abroad. They have the potential in the world of football and I have faith in them to excel beyond expectations," Luchebereri said.
With several KPL clubs interested in his players, Luchebereri emphasizes the need for financial support to help the school grow and develop its football program. He plans to attend football clinics to enhance his coaching abilities and help his players reach their full potential.
Lugusi Boys High School is currently competing in the Western Division Two League after earning promotion from the branch league. The school's success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of its players, coaches, and staff.
