Published on September 12, 2019, a remarkable story of honesty and integrity emerged from Kirinyaga County.

A 23-year-old waitress, Eva Karendi, working at Nice Digital City Hotel in Ngurubani Town, Mwea Constituency, stumbled upon a suspicious-looking bag containing Ksh. 60,043.

Initially unsure of what the item was, Eva called her colleague to investigate further. Upon checking the bag, they were shocked to find the substantial amount of money.

According to Eva, she said, 'I saw the strange item and was not sure what it was so I called my colleague. We checked inside and we were shocked to find Ksh 60,043.'

After discovering the money, Eva's colleagues and the hotel management worked together to identify the owner of the lost bag.

Esther Mbaabu, a customer from Meru County, had accidentally dropped the bag and didn't realize it until after she left the hotel. When contacted, Esther confirmed that she had put Ksh. 60,000 and a few coins inside the bag.

Upon returning to the hotel, Esther was reunited with her lost purse, expressing her relief and gratitude. The hotel's director, Charles Njiru, praised Eva's good work, stating, 'I have already promoted the girl for her good work.'
