Apple Introduces Cycle Tracking App for iOS and Apple Watch ¶
Apple has announced a new period-tracking app called Cycle Tracking, which will allow users to record their menstrual cycles and receive notifications when they are fertile. The app will be available on iOS 13 and WatchOS 6, and will be integrated into the Health app on iPhone and Apple Watch.
According to Apple, the Cycle Tracking app will provide users with a visual representation of their cycle, including period days marked with a red dot and fertile days marked with a blue dot. The app will also allow users to log key aspects of their period and fertility, including symptoms and flow levels, and will provide fertile window predictions to help users plan for pregnancy.
Apple has also announced three health studies that will tie into the Cycle Tracking app: the Apple Hearing Study with the World Health Organization and the University of Michigan, the Apple Women's Health Study with Harvard and National Institutes of Health, and the Apple Heart and Movement Study with the American Heart Association and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Users will be able to enroll in these studies through the Apple research app later this year.
Apple's Cycle Tracking app follows a model similar to other menstruation-tracking apps, such as Clue and Eve, which use the data users enter to predict when their period will arrive and when they are ovulating.
