Ms. Anne Waiguru, the Governor of Kirinyaga County, has a history of controversy. Her tenure as Devolution Cabinet Secretary in the 11th parliament was marred by corruption scandals.
According to Peter Ndambiri, the Deputy Governor of Kirinyaga County, the 250-acre land belongs to the county administration. It was allocated to private developers, but their identities remain unknown.
The Deputy Governor alleged that the land has been taken over by powerful individuals in the government, who colluded with land officials to acquire the land in Sagana.
He emphasized the need for the land to be returned to the county government and for corruption to be addressed at all costs.
