Published on September 12, 2019, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the partial closure of the Thika Superhighway at Allsopps area for two consecutive weekends.
The city-bound expressway will be closed on Saturday, September 14th, and Sunday, September 15th, 2019, to facilitate the installation of overpass concrete beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass.
Motorists heading to the Nairobi city centre will be required to use the service lanes as directed by traffic marshals.
According to KURA Acting Director General Silas M. Kinoti, the Thika Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) will be closed on Saturday, September 14th, and Sunday, September 15th, 2019, in order to install beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass.
A similar traffic disruption is also expected next weekend as the remaining section of the outbound expressway will be closed on Saturday, September 21st, and Sunday, September 22nd, 2019.
The closure will commence from 6 am until 6 pm on both weekends, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to reduce congestion on the service lanes.
