Pope Francis, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church, sent a message of blessings and best wishes to Kenyans and President Uhuru Kenyatta on September 12, 2019, as he flew back to Rome after a tour of Mozambique, Madagascar, and Mauritius.
The message was conveyed by radio and recorded by Kenya's Air Traffic Control (ATC).
"President Uhuru Kenyatta, I offer my cordial best wishes to you and the People of Kenya as I return to Rome after my Apostolic visit in Mozambique, Madagascar, and Mauritius," he said.
He added, "Upon all of you, I invoke blessings of peace and well-being."
During his five-day tour, Pope Francis visited Mozambique, Madagascar, and Mauritius, following his first trip to Africa in November 2015, where he became the second Pontiff to visit Kenya after Pope John Paul II.
