On September 11, 2019, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) launched a new brand of cider beer, Sikera Apple, as part of its plans to grow sales among female consumers.

The new cider beer will retail at Sh150 for a 300ml bottle, marking the brewer's latest move to diversify its product portfolio.

According to Jane Karuku, KBL's managing director, Sikera Apple cider targets consumers aged between 20 to 35 years, a demographic that the brewer believes will appreciate the new product.

'We realised they needed something else,' Karuku said, highlighting the brewer's efforts to cater to the evolving tastes of its customers.

The introduction of Sikera Apple cider comes after the launch of Tusker Cider in 2016, and KBL has announced plans to roll out a series of brands of cider beer in the coming years.
