On September 11, 2019, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) announced a partnership with gender equality data and insights provider Equileap and New Faces New Voices to conduct a joint study on gender equality in Kenyan-listed companies.
The study aims to evaluate the performance of listed companies in terms of gender balance in the workforce, senior management, and boards, as well as their publication of gender pay gaps, parental leave policies, anti-sexual harassment policies, and supplier diversity policies.
NSE chief executive Geoffrey Odundo stated that the study seeks to enhance the involvement of both genders at all levels in corporate company operations, which has been found to improve company performance, staff retention, and the attraction of talented staff.
Equileap CEO Diana van Maasdijk noted that the study will shed light on the progress made by listed firms in addressing gender disparities.
