Motorists heading to the City Centre are advised to use alternative routes this weekend as the Thika Superhighway at Allsopps area will be closed to facilitate the installation of overpass concrete beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass.
According to a statement issued by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on Wednesday, 11th September 2019, the city-bound expressway will be closed on Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th September 2019.
Motorists will be required to use the service lanes as directed by traffic marshals. The closure will commence from 6am until 6pm on both weekends.
Similar traffic disruptions are also expected next weekend as the remaining section of the outbound expressway will be closed on Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd September 2019.
“It is advisable for motorists to use alternative routes to reduce congesting the service lanes,” said KURA Acting Director General Silas M Kinoti.
