Published on September 11, 2019, six suspects, including three police officers, involved in the Nairobi West heist were released on Ksh.1 million bond.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi declined the prosecution's application to deny them bail, citing insufficient reasons.

The prosecution had opposed bail, fearing the suspects might interfere with investigations and abscond court.

However, the court heard that the accused persons were arrested on different dates, and investigations were not complete.

Defense lawyer Cliff Ombeta claimed that his clients were tortured by police after their arrest, with one suspect displaying injuries.

Ombeta alleged that the suspects were suffocated using plastic bags and tortured at Windsor.

The court directed the accused persons to deposit their passports in court.
