Published on September 11, 2019, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) has announced a partial closure of the city-bound expressway of the Thika Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) Ruaraka interchange this weekend.

The closure is necessary for the installation of beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring Road overpass, which aims to ease traffic movement between the two major arteries in Nairobi's east.

Motorists heading to the city centre have been advised to use the service lanes, as directed by traffic marshals, while the remaining section of the outbound expressway will be closed on Saturday, September 21st, and Sunday, September 22nd, 2019.

According to Kura, the closure will disrupt traffic flow on the expressway, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to reduce congestion on the service lanes.

The partial closure will commence from 6am to 6pm on both days.
