Published on September 11, 2019, the 2022 presidential election campaigns are gaining momentum, despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's warning to politicians to tone down their campaigns, as they may divert attention from development efforts.
David Murathe, the former Jubilee Party chairman, has publicly endorsed Raila Odinga for the 2022 presidential election.
Speaking at a function to celebrate journalist Tony Gachoka's birthday, Murathe emphasized the need for constitutional reforms, saying, "Hata wakisema BBI ni beba baba Ikulu, mimi niko hapo ndani," and "BBI ikisema kutakuwa na rotational president na itaanzia Murang'a, haka Ndindi katakataa?"
Murathe has been a vocal critic of Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) team.
He stated, "Kama kuna mtu anaweza kuzuia Naibu Rais William Ruto kushinda urais, ni aliyekuwa Waziri Mkuu. Hakuna mtu mwingine," and "Kazi yetu ni kuhakikisha huyo jamaa hajakuwa rais kwa sababu akishinda tutaisha,"
