On September 11, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta emphasized the role of the Kenya Defence Forces in Kenya's industrialization efforts.
The President stated that the country's prosperity is closely tied to an environment of peace and security, which is enabled by the KDF and sister agencies in the security and defence sectors.
He called upon the military to contribute directly to the national industrialization processes, noting the efforts the Ministry of Defense is making to expand the current defence industrial production.
The President spoke at the Recruits Training School in Eldoret, where he presided over a recruits' passing out parade.
Over 3,000 soldiers graduated from the Recruits Training School, and the President presented awards to the top recruits in various fields.
The ceremony was attended by the military top brass, led by Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, and Defence Cabinet Secretary Amb Raychelle Omamo.
