Gor Mahia's Champions League trip to Algeria is in jeopardy due to financial challenges, with the club failing to raise enough money for hotel accommodation in Algiers.

The team is scheduled to play USM Alger for the first leg of their Caf Champions League match on Sunday, September 15, but the trip is under serious threat.

According to Gor Mahia's chair, Ambrose Rachier, the club organized a funds drive on Tuesday, September 10, in Nairobi, but it was a flop as many of the invited guests failed to turn up.

As a result, the club was only able to raise a 'paltry amount' which is not sufficient for the trip, Rachier disclosed.

"We have not raised sufficient money for hotel accommodation in Algiers," Rachier said in a statement.

Despite the financial challenges, the club is expected to proceed with the match, with Nicholas Kipkurui leading the attack line.

Key guests who were invited to the fundraiser but did not attend include Raila Odinga, Mike Sonko, and Makadara.
