On September 11, 2019, a campaign poster of Vera Sidika joining the race for Kibra Member of Parliament sparked a heated online debate among Kenyans.
The poster, created by her ardent fans, announced Vera as the Mayengz representative, with her fans pledging to vote for her unopposed.
However, the reaction from Kenyans was far from unanimous, with some expressing surprise and others skepticism about Vera's bid for the parliamentary seat.
Some of the reactions included:
- Aminah Mussa: 'Kwani Kibra imekua dumping site ya kila mtu?' (Has Kibra become a dumping ground for everyone?)
- Khariss Klaxx Di Ticha: 'acha ni ulize bolo yeung' (just leave her alone)
- Bernard Steve: 'Sisi kama team mafisi we are going to pass Vera unopposed' (We, as a team of pranksters, will pass Vera unopposed)
- Cornelius Chepkwony: 'Had I been a voter in Kibra I would have voted for Veronicah Shikwekwe.'
- Maggie Joy Blessings: 'Kibera mtaona fire' (Kibera will see fire)
- Mamake D Rosha: 'Sasa Vera ata julikana aje kwa voting point mara ni melanin mara mzungu aaii na a stick kwa place moja mimi kama mu kiamburian hakuna haja ya wanakibra kuchangua plastic' (Now Vera is known at the voting point, but what about her melanin and her stick for one place? I, as a Kiamburian, don't see the need for Kibra residents to throw away plastic)
- Angel Angela: 'Anaweza sema kila mtu afanyiwe plastic surgery for me nooo' (He can say that everyone should get plastic surgery for me no)
- Bae Wa Maich: 'Wen i thot i had seen it all then boom shikwekwe' (When I thought I had seen it all, then boom shikwekwe)
