Banking Sector Workers Receive 6% Salary Increase

On September 11, 2019, a significant milestone was achieved in the banking sector with the signing of a collective bargaining agreement.

Under the agreement, unionizable bank employees and bank management will enjoy a six percent salary increase within the period of 2019-2021.

Banking, Insurance, and Finance Union (BIFU) spokesperson Tom Odero and Kenya Bankers Association representatives signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.

The agreement also includes enhanced medical cover for unionizable bank staff.

Approximately 30,000 employees within the banking industry will benefit from this agreement, including unionizable staff and management employees.
