On September 7th, 2019, Standard Digital premiered a new weekly online show called Diaspora Life, where Kenyans living and working in the diaspora share their experiences abroad.
According to Carole Kimutai, Managing Editor, Digital at Standard Group Plc, the show is a unique concept of storytelling, featuring hundreds of stories about Kenyans in the diaspora.
‘We want Kenyans to share their experiences with the rest of the world and Standard Digital has provided that platform,’ said Kimutai.
The show will cover various topics, including daily life, food, careers, relationships, racism, investments, schooling, and more.
John Kamau, a Kenyan who has lived in the US for 10 years, cautions that the grass is not always greener on the other side, citing the Central Bank of Kenya's report that Kenyans in the diaspora remitted Sh 270 billion in the 12 months leading to March 2019.
The show will be a 15-minute feature documentary hosted by Chris Wamalwa, a Kenyan journalist in the diaspora.
