On September 10, 2019, the Kibra by-election was set to take place, but a major hurdle emerged when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) rejected Jubilee's nominee, McDonald Mariga.
The IEBC cited a critical reason for their decision: Mariga's details were missing in the voter's register of 2017.
