Apple has announced that its upcoming streaming service, Apple TV+, will launch on November 1 in over 100 countries. This move comes just a couple of weeks after Disney laid out plans for its new streaming service, Disney+, which is expected to launch on November 12 at $6.99 per month.

One of the most exciting aspects of Apple TV+ is that when you buy a new Apple device starting from September 10, you'll get a free year of Apple TV+ included. This is a clever marketing move by Apple to promote both the new streaming service and the new iPhone that launched on September 10.

At $4.99 per month for a family plan (up to 6 members), Apple TV+ is cheaper than both Netflix ($16 per month for the Ultra HD Premium tier) and Disney+ ($6.99 per month). It will be interesting to see how Netflix responds to this new pricing.

Apple has outlined the shows that will be available on launch, with plans for more content to be added over time. You can find the full list of Apple TV+ shows to expect on the Apple website.

How to Stream Apple TV+

  • Through the Apple TV App across all Apple platforms
  • Through tv.apple.com on the web through Safari, Chrome, Firefox browsers
  • On Samsung Smart TVs - Some 2018 Models, and all 2019 Models
  • On Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony, and VIZIO in the future
  • On AirPlay 2-enabled TVs

When you sign up for Apple TV+, you'll get a 7-day free trial. And for those buying new Apple devices, you have 3 months to activate the free year of Apple TV+.
